“Gen.Pol Adul” Visits Ayutthaya to Expand Section 40 Network for Stability of Independent Workers

             The Labour Minister visitedNakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to create understanding of the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” among independent workers to access social security and have stable lives. 

 

            
            On October 17, 2018, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo recorded the Thailand Moves Forward program, under the project of “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security in Rang Chorakhe” at Rang Chorakhe, Sena, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. He said that the Ministry of Labour has prioritized and is committed to promoting labour policies, including providing independent workers with access to social security to create fairness and equality for all worker groups. The Minister of Labour has urged the Social Security Office to create a network to push for universal coverage under the project “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security”, to campaign for independent workers in the community to be insured under Section 40, by campaigning to raise awareness from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019 with a total goal of 1 million people.
            Pol.Gen. Adul said that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office had assigned staff to the area to create awareness among the independent workers in the community to voluntarily apply for insurance under Section 40 so that each district, subdistrict and village becomes a social security network. From this visit, there were 3 villages which were 100 percent insured under Section 40; they were Plai Na Nuea Village Moo 1, Plai Na Nuea Village Moo 3 and Plai Na Nuea Village Moo 5. This will enable protection among independent workers in line with the “One Tambon, One Village, Universal Social Security” policy. The Ministry of Labour thus invites interested informal workers to apply for insurance under Section 40 at the Bangkok / provincial / branches of Social Security Offices nationwide using the identification card.             Furthermore, the event had booths provided by the Ministry of Labour’s departments. For example the Department of Employment provided recruitment services for homeworkers, the Department of Skill Development provided electronics repair, motorcycle maintenance, oil change and training application services, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare provided labour law advisory, the Social Security Office took applications for insurance under Section 40, gave advice and checked social security benefits and the Office of the Permanent Secretary provided information on protection of informal workers.
