On June 17, 2019, at 21.30 hours, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Somsak Apiwantakul together with the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector-General Mr. Anan Bowornaorak, Surat Thani Provincial Labour Office Director Ms. Aree Karnthiro and representatives of the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Surat Thani, traveled to visit and boost the morale of staff at the Provincial Employment Office and Labour Protection and Welfare Office in Surat Thani Province, while working at the Port In – Port Out Controlling Center (PIPO) at the Donsak Forward Inspection Point (FIP) in Surat Thani. This visit did not find any fishing boat owners in violation of the Fisheries Act or Foreign Workers and Labour Protection Act. The workers in fishing were aware of their duties, devoting time at risk in the late night. Officers from the two departments praised the workers and boat owners who contributed to the unlocking of Thailand IUU’s yellow card status, to the protection of fishing workers at the C188 standard, respectively.
