Labour Minister Assigns Advisor and Spokesperson to Deliver Relief Bags to Workers and Flood Victims in Suphan Buri

          On October 14, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, to visit the area to support and give relief bags to the representatives of labour volunteers, insured persons, people with disabilities and villagers affected by floods in Suphan Buri Province. The donations totaled 230 sets and 6,000 bottles of drinking water. They also visited public service units provided by agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Suphan Buri. For example, services included home appliances repair services for flood victims by the Suphan Buri Skill Development Institute 2 and applications for Section 40 insured persons by the Suphan Buri Provincial Social Security Office. The first stop was at Khlong Mong Temple, Ongkharak Subdistrict, Bang Pla Ma District, Suphanburi Province. The second stop was at Ongkharak Subdistrict Administrative Organization, where they donated two floating restrooms. The third point was at Ban Hong, Moo 7, where they donated survival bags and drinking water to flood victims. Mr. Wattana Yangyuen, Permanent Secretary of Suphanburi Province, Mr. Wittawat Pongkonkiat, Bang Pla Ma District Deputy, Mr. Thanakorn Manotham, Permanent Secretary of Ongkharak Sub-district Administrative Organization, village headsmen, community leaders, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Suphan Buri Province also joined the occasion.
          Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the “Dian Mu” tropical storm caused flash floods, widely affecting workers, businesses, and people in the area. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned about the people suffering from the impacts. Today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her to visit the area to give encouragement, relief bags, and drinking water to alleviate people’s suffering. The operations of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Suphan Buri Province have surveyed the flood-affected areas and communicated with establishments through various communication channels, that if they are experiencing difficulties that affect the work, then to coordinate and notify the departments under the Ministry of Labour. Agencies have visited communities and service units for informal workers at the subdistrict level to clarify guidelines for assisting people suffering from occupational difficulties due to flooding in the area. They publicized the project to resolve occupational difficulties, issued a service unit to repair electrical appliances for flood victims, and provided two floating restroom units to give to Suphan Buri Province to alleviate suffering for flood victims.
          “Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin is concerned and gives his encouragement to the workers and people affected by the flood. He has instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the area to work with relevant agencies, mobilize all forces to help the people be safe to the fullest extent, and accelerate recovery after the water recedes according to the mission of each unit. Today, he assigned my team and me to visit the area to support and give relief bags to employees and people who have suffered from the flooding, to relieve their suffering and bring the situation back to normal as soon as possible,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
          The flood situation in Suphan Buri impacted ten districts, 106 sub-districts, and 929 villages, affecting 70,740 people, 36,460 households, and120,797 rai of agricultural land. The overall water level in the area has increased due to the overflow of the bank and the water mass flowing from higher areas.
