Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Deliver Skill Development Fund Loan for Organizations to Upskill Employees

          On July 22, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to preside over the granting of loans from the Skill Development Fund under the Skills Development Promotion Act B.E. 2545 and amendments B.E. 2557, for the 2022 fiscal year amounting to 1,000,000 Baht. The loans were provided to GF Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Managing Director of GF Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Mrs. Naratchaphan Tocharoen, was the recipient. The Department of Skill Development’s Inspector-General, Ms. Apakorn Wongkhetkon, the Director of the Skill Development Promotion Division, Ms. Banthita Suksathit, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Samut Sakhon Province also attended the occasion at GF Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Om Noi Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province.
          Ms. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, and the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, give importance to human resource development to increase labour productivity within organizations which will result in boosting the country’s competitiveness. It allows organizations or their employees to participate in employee skill development activities to acquire knowledge to support operations for better efficiency. She thanked the organizations, particularly those with over 100 employees under the enforcement of the Skills Development Promotion Act B.E. 2545, who have been affected by the COVID-19 situation. Therefore, the Department of Skill Development has continuously driven key policies by helping organizations to develop their employees’ skills to increase productivity and to borrow from the interest-free Skill Development Fund for 18 months to pay for training expenses. On this occasion, she observed the training on sabai-mon embroidery of the informal worker’s group in Ban Ko Subdistrict and gave items and encouragement to insured persons with disabilities in Khlong Khru Subdistrict Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.
The Company’s Managing Director, Mrs. Naratchaphan Tocharoen, said that the company received news about loans from the Skill Development Fund under the Department of Skill Development and has borrowed money from the Skills Development Fund since 2016. The loan has been used to train the company’s employees, as the company places great importance on its personnel. It has always considered its people one of the organization’s most valuable resources. Therefore, it supports the development of staff skills to stay current and keep pace with the changing world. This year, the loan from the Skill Development Fund was used in the employee training course on “The path of corporate development towards excellence as a basis for effective management.” The course was launched in the hope that participants would drive the company to become the top Polyurethane Form specialist in the country and one of the world’s best.
          The Department of Skill Development also provides opportunities for organizations to borrow money from the Skills Development Fund at a maximum amount of 1 million Baht.
