Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Visit Insured Persons with Disabilities in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, to Promote Physical and Mental Wellness and Create Life Security

          On January 26, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, to visit the area meet insured persons with disabilities in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mrs. Wantana Natthaphunwat, Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Social Security Officer Mrs. Sukanya Chabbang and Head of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Social Security Office Ms. Kanthamanee Kuncharamani, Mayor of Hua Hin City Mr. Nopporn Wuttikul, along with the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province joined the visit as well.

          Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned for insured persons who have experienced accidents or unsafe environments at work, causing them disabilities. They also give importance to taking care of the insured persons closely in every aspect. The Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office is ready to take care of people with disabilities to receive complete and correct benefits and access to support quickly and timely. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her and her team to visit Hua Hin District in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, to meet with insured persons with disabilities caused by injury and deliver consumer goods and consumables as well as various appliances create morale and encouragement and have a positive feeling about the social security system. The visit also acknowledged problems and provided advice on exercising legal rights of persons with disabilities, including monitoring the symptoms of illness to promote healing and rehabilitation of the body and mind for stability in life and a better quality of life for insured persons.

          Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that the visit to meet insured persons with disabilities aimed to encourage them and provide them with consumer goods and necessary items. They met two insured persons at their houses, under the responsibility of the Pathum Thani Social Security Office. The first person was Mr. Tosatit Onmak, 51, an insured person under Section 33, who was disabled from being attacked while riding a motorcycle home. The incident caused his right arm and leg to weaken until he could not use them. He received the rights as a person with disabilities on November 5, 2018. He currently receives compensation for a lack of income of 6,000 Baht per month for life. The second person was Mr. Sompong Northot, 48, an insured person under Section 33, who became a person with disabilities from an accident where a bus scraped a motorcycle, causing it to crash. The incident caused the lower body to deform. Both hands became weak and unable to work. He became entitled to compensation for his disability on April 16, 1999. He currently receives compensation for a lack of income of 2,400 Baht per month for life.

          “Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin has expressed his concern for insured persons with disabilities and their families. Therefore, he assigned the group and me to visit them with items to promote morale, encouragement, and access to physical and mental recovery. We will also ensure they receive complete and correct benefits as well as to create security guarantees to have a good quality of life in the future,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
