Labour Minister Assigns Advisory Board Members to Take Claims of Unfair Treatment by Partners of Grab

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Advisory Board Members to take claims to resolve the unfair treatment of food delivery drivers from companies.
          On December 3, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisory Board Member to the Minister of Labour Mr. Natthawat Teeratathamrong welcomed representatives of the working group to resolve partners’ troubles operating through the Grab application. The working group had requested to meet and discuss unfair treatment from Grab. Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Mrs. Udomlak Sonsaree and the Ministry of Labour’s senior management also joined the occasion. The meeting took place at the Labour Relations Group meeting room on the Ministry of Labour’s ground floor. The Advisory Council of the Labour Minister said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha had given importance to solving all labor groups’ problems by creating knowledge and understanding and promoting good labour relations between employers and employees. On this day, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned him to meet with the representatives of the working group to resolve the troubles of partners who operate through the Grab application. The partner representative claimed fairness in case the company has issued various regulations, including low pricing, forced purchase of equipment, no benefits for employees, and unfair shutdown of the rider’s system. Furthermore, there is no appeal system, and the company has denied any responsibility if the company’s drivers have an accident during service. He also asked the Labour Minister to discuss with the company and related agencies to find solutions to the problems. The meeting assigned the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare to take over to proceed further.
