On December 26, 2022, at 09.30 hours, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong to preside over and witness the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on medical services to increase the efficiency of the insured person’s access to treatment in the social security system. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, the Social Security Office’s executives, including administrators of all ten hospitals together with staff from the Social Security Office, gave a welcome at The Emerald Hotel, Ratchadaphisek Road, Din Daeng District, Bangkok.
The Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, gives importance to care and access to medical services for all groups of people equally. The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, has given a policy on managing and developing medical service systems. The Social Security Office is the main agency that protects insured persons. It has an important mission in developing a medical service system with excellent management for insured persons to receive benefits and efficient medical services so they can access treatment promptly. Today, he said he was pleased to have been assigned by the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchat Chomklin, to preside over and witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for medical services between the Social Security Office and all ten hospitals to increase the efficiency of access to treatment for insured persons.
The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, spoke of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Social Security Office and medical facilities that have potential according to the standards set by the Social Security Office. The initiative aims to increase the efficiency of insured persons in accessing surgical treatment or conducting pilot procedures in five disease groups. Today, ten social security hospitals participated in the MOU to provide treatment and medical services for insured persons according to their expertise. Six hospitals provide cardiovascular procedures services, namely Kasemrad Bangkae Hospital in Bangkok, Theptarin Hospital in Bangkok, Vichaivej International Hospital Nongkhaem in Bangkok, Sikarin Hospital in Bangkok, World Medical Hospital in Nonthaburi Province, and Chularat 3 International Hospital in Samut Prakan Province. There is one hospital providing stroke treatment services, the Neurological Institute of Thailand in Bangkok, and one hospital providing kidney and gall bladder surgery services, the Thabo Crown Prince Hospital in Nong Khai Province. There is one medical facility for breast cancer surgery, the Bangpakok 8 Hospital in Bangkok, and two medical facilities for uterine tumor surgery, Bangpakok 8 Hospital in Bangkok, and Rajavithi Hospital, in Bangkok.
The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General continued that the Social Security Office would pay medical fees directly to the hospitals that entered the MOU. The insured person would not have to pay for the service in any way. The implementation will start from January 1 to June 30, 2023. Once the project has been implemented, the Social Security Office will monitor and evaluate the project for further development of efficient services for insured persons. There will be expected to be 7,500 insured persons using the service. The Social Security Office is determined and dedicated to work by adhering to the operating principles under the guidelines of the government and the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, who gives importance to improving the quality of life of the workforce and reducing inequality in medical services by integrating medical services appropriately, to provide equality, with quality, which will lead to the sustainable development of the country.
