On October 9, 2020, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Secretary-General Mr. Suthep Chitayavong as chairman of the meeting to clarify guidelines for health promotion and disease prevention services for influenza vaccine hospitals under the social security system. The meeting took place at the Nonthaburi Social Security Office.
He said that the Prime Minister gave importance to the economic recovery of the country. After Thailand and many other countries worldwide have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the economy needs to be accelerated quickly. The Ministry of Labour is the main human resource development agency. Therefore, it has the policy to promote health and disease prevention for employees and insured persons, which are the main force to drive the nation’s activities and businesses. Mr. Suthep said that the country’s empowerment to restore the economy must come from a healthy workforce. Providing employees/insured persons with influenza vaccines will build immunity for the workforce and reassures employers/businesses that there is a strong workforce ready to work. This helps reduce the chance of sick leave for medical treatment and the burden of medical care and reduce the spread of influenza and the workload for medical personnel.
“The Ministry of Labour would like to entrust the great mission of caring for employees/insured persons to medical institutions in the social security system. This is of great importance to the quality of life of workers. As the Secretary-General to the Labour Minister, I ask for the cooperation of all medical institutions in the social security system to care for employees/insured persons with full willingness and strength to join together to create a strong workforce, ready to drive the country’s economy to stability,” said Suthep.
