Labour Minister Assigns Spokesperson to Visit Border Patrol Police Vocational Training in Kanchanaburi

          On December 29, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, to visit the border patrol police vocational training to enhance skills and career opportunities. The training followed the royal initiative project on grass broom-making courses for villagers in the border patrol police community from the Kanchanaburi Skill Development Office. The visit also provided tools for a career as a barber for 20 border patrol police who have trained as barbers from the Kanchanaburi Provincial Employment Office. The occasion took place at the first point, Border Patrol Police School, Saha Thanakan Krungthep, Nong Lu Subdistrict, Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province. Superintendent of Border Patrol Police Division 13, Pol. Col. Sukit Kongchatusak, Commander of Border Patrol Police Division 135, Pol. Lt. Col. Atthaphon Pas-ard, the Department of Skills Development’s Inspector-General, Mrs. Veeraya Rattananit, along with agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Kanchanaburi Province, joined in welcoming and visiting the vocational training courses for making marble tables at the second point, Border Patrol Police Division 135, Tha Khanun Subdistrict, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province.

          Mrs. Thienrat said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, cares for and realizes the importance of the occupations of all groups of people, especially workers who are far away. Therefore, he emphasized that agencies under the Ministry of Labour bring the ministry’s missions to service thoroughly. Today, she was assigned to visit the border patrol police’s vocational training to enhance their skills and career opportunities following the royal initiative project. The Ministry of Labour assigned the Department of Skill Development to organize the vocational training. For Kanchanaburi Province, the Office of Skill Development has conducted two training courses: 20 making brooms from grass flowers and 20 making marble tables. Both training courses took place between December 27 and 29, 2022.

          Mrs. Thienrat said that the selected courses for training are based on the needs of the local people. It is a course that does not take long to practice. After completing the training, participants can start working immediately. There are also local raw materials, including making brooms from grass flowers. In addition to teaching skills, there is teaching to calculate the cost and find markets. The Kanchanaburi Provincial Employment Office has trained border patrol police as barbers to reduce household expenses and apply the knowledge to the border patrol students. When the training is over, training participants will also get the tools for cutting hair.

          In this regard, agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Kanchanaburi Province also participated in exhibition booths, consisting of the Provincial Social Security Office providing health check services and spreading awareness on applying for Social Security Section 40. The Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office gave out items, including blankets and snacks, to the students who stayed at the school. The Provincial Labour Office also handed out media to publicize the Ministry of Labour’s missions.

          “The skills training project to enhance career opportunities will help develop skills and increase opportunities for the border patrol police group and villagers in the community to use it for their careers or to join groups to strengthen their communities. The Ministry of Labor is pleased to be a part of helping people in remote areas to have jobs, a career, a stable income, and a better quality of life,” concluded Mrs. Thienrat.
