Content Description

On October 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan participated in discussions to push for social disability employment policy at the Phetchaburi Provincial Employment Office. Heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province participated in the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha had given importance to promoting employment to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting people to have a career and income. The Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, emphasizes employment promotion for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. The Ministry of Labour has monitored the progress of corporate social responsibility efforts, helping vulnerable workers during the COVID-19 situation, especially those with disabilities who have the potential and desire to work. Such efforts allow them to have a job, an income to help take care of themselves. The nature of the job is to work for social services or communities in the area, where there is no need to travel far from home for work.
“This support results from integration by three parties, namely the government, the private sector, and people with disabilities. In this integration, 1) The government provides work to people with disabilities, such as hospitals promoting health in the subdistrict, the Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and government foundations. 2) The private sector (companies) supports wages for people with disabilities. 3) Persons with disabilities worked with government agencies in the area. This creates opportunities for people with disabilities to have jobs and earn an income. It also includes other benefits or rights to persons with disabilities (under section 35), such as supporting funds for people with disabilities like providing farm animals for their cultivation like chickens and pigs, establishing a drinking water vending machine, providing trade opportunities, and opening grocery stores for example, so that people with disabilities or their caregivers can develop the quality of life for themselves and their families sustainably. It also reduces challenges among vulnerable populations to give them access to adequate social opportunities,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
On this occasion, Cal Comp Electronics Thailand PCL has supported 50 job positions. The initiative is following the People with Disabilities Empowerment Act, B.E. 2550, and its amendments (No. 2), B.E. 2556.
