Labour Minister Discusses Foreign Worker Health Checks with MOPH

The Labour Minister joined an urgent meeting to organize a health examination system for foreign workers. He revealed that public and private hospitals in each area of Bangkok can also support the service of health examination for foreign workers for many work permit applications.

                On February 21, 2020, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul chaired a meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Public Health on the issue of complaints about the health examination of foreign workers, which takes a long time and has many steps, causing delays. The meeting took place at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the meeting. According to the Department of Employment’s report on February 20, 2020, 845,544 employers have already requested the Foreign Worker Name List, whereby 453,581 employers have paid for work permits, and 300,115 work permits have been issued.

                Hospitals that provide health checks for foreign workers cover all 4 locations in Bangkok, including Center 1, IT Square, Laksi, and Rajavithi Hospital, facilitating 1,200 people daily from Monday-Friday, and 3,000 people daily from Saturday-Sunday. Lerdsin Hospital can accommodation 1,600 health checks daily from Monday-Friday, and 1,600 people daily from Saturday-Sunday. Center 2, U Amulet Plaza (Big C Petchkasem) has Rajapiphat Hospital, which can accommodate 2,000 people daily from Monday-Friday and Reverend Father Thaweesak Chutinaro-Uthit Hospital which can facilitate 700 services per day. Center 3, Number One Plaza, Bang Na, Lat Krabang Hospital can service 600 people per day from Saturday-Sunday, Vej Karunaraj Hospital can accommodate 600 people from Monday-Friday, Nopparatrajathanee Hospital can service 400 people daily from Monday – Friday and 1,000 people from Saturday – Sunday. Center 4, Nong Chok Intersection Market has Vejkhararun Hospital which can accommodate 150 people from Monday-Friday and Nopparatrajathanee Hospital which can service 400 people daily from Monday-Friday and 1,000 people from Saturday-Sunday.

                M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul has ordered the representatives of the Department of Employment to check the order in each One-Stop Service (OSS) center on a regular basis at least once a day, to facilitate employers and foreign workers who come to use the service. It also requires hospitals to send queues that can be served daily, to the Information and Communication Technology Center, Department of Employment, to inform employers and companies on the website, including public relations through various channels for information on bringing foreigners to receive health check-up services.
