Labour Minister Hosts Conference to Encourage Five Labour Leaders in Samut Sakhon and Proposes Proactive Covid-19 Screening Measures Among Workplace Employees

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the conference meeting to encourage the five labour leaders in Samut Sakhon. He also urged provincial workers to propose measures to the provincial meeting to assist migrant workers in business establishments under the social security system.

          On December 20, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired a video conference to monitor the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic and suggested proactive Covid-19 screening operations among migrant workers in workplaces under the social security system in Samut Sakhon. The Labour Minister approved an interpreter to communicate with migrant workers in the workplace, get tested for infection with hospitals in the social security network, and know the screening results within 24 hours. The measure facilitates quicker actions in preventing the spread of Covid-19. Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the meeting at the Sangsingkeaw meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.

          Mr. Suchart said that due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Samut Sakhon and other areas at the moment, the government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-Ocha, and the Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned about all groups of workers, including the workforce involved in all sectors. It has coordinated the Samut Sakhon Labour Office to implement measures to assist and presented recommendations at the Samut Sakhon provincial meeting.

          “I am concerned with all government officials and agency staff who have been working hard during the Covid-19 pandemic. I would like to send our encouragement to all those working with the Ministry of Labour, to strengthen their duties to drive the missions to overcome the Covid-19 crisis,” Mr. Suchart concluded.

          After the meeting, the Labour Minister together with his Advisor, Secretariat, Permanent Secretary of Labour, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives, visited and gave words of encouragement to workers in taking issues reported by the people who contacted the Ministry of Labour’s 1506 hotline, press 5 for the Ministry of Labour’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (MOL CCSA), at the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
