Labour Minister Joins PM Delegation to Pattani to Meet Mud Crab Breeding Group to Promote Community Income and Encourage Labour Volunteers and Graduates

          On December 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the delegation of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha to visit Pattani Province to check on the water management in flood-prone areas in the southern border provinces. They also met with members of the Mud Crab Breeding Group and people linked to the mud crab occupation group and other occupations. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Inspector-General Mr. Krirkkrai Nasomyont and the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Air Chief Marshal Supaporn Yuwattana also joined the occasion at the Crab Cultivation Learning Center, Ban To Som, Bang Pu Subdistrict, Yaring District, Pattani Province.
          Mr. Suchart said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha has a policy for the Ministry of Labour to integrate assistance and development of Thai workers in the southern border provinces affected by the COVID-19 situation. It also aims to promote and take care of community enterprise groups to extend their careers to SME entrepreneurship in the future. The focus is especially on informal, elderly, and disabled workers, including vulnerable groups, to have a career and a stable income. Yala Province is a sustainable tourism city with stable quality of life and wealthy agriculture.
          Labour volunteer leaders at the subdistrict level and Pattani labour graduates who serve to publicize the Ministry of Labour’s information, news, work, and missions to people in the area, also joined the welcoming. The Prime Minister met the people and showed encouragement and appreciation for supporting the Ministry of Labour and the people in the area.
          Mr. Teewin Siribamrung, a labour graduate from Rusamilae Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pattani Province, said he has served as a labour graduate for 14 years. He is proud to act as a small cog in connecting the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the people in the area. Today, he said that he was glad the Prime Minister and the Minister of Labour visited them to strengthen their operations to ensure stability for them and the people in the area.
          Mr. Harong Yelae, a labour volunteer from Tera Bon Subdistrict, Saiburi District, Pattani Province, is currently the Pattani provincial labour volunteer group chairman. He said that the group represents the people and villagers and leads the mission of the government, especially the departments under the Ministry of Labour, to the people to promote careers and a stable income.
          Pattani Province has 319,904 people in the workforce, comprising 301,460 employed people, 17,444 unemployed people, 1,629 organizations registered under social security, 313,171 insured workers, 9,306 foreign workers, 115 labour volunteers, and 135 labour graduates. They have paid benefits and compensation for unemployment due to force majeure to 243 establishments, comprising 2,985 insured persons for 6,673,102.35 Baht.
