Labour Minister Joins PM Delegation to Visit Nakhon Si Thammarat to Meet Labour Volunteers Bringing Services to the People and Joined the Opening of the Community Digital Center

          On October 7, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the delegation of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and visited the area to inspect government operations of Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Advisory Board Members to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthi Sukosol and Mr. Chamlong Chuayrod, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. The first point was the Na Muang Canal bridge pump setting on Phatthanakan Khu Kwang Road, Pak Nakhon Subdistrict, Mueang District. The delegation received a briefing on water management by the Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality and met with the people. The second point was the U-turn point 1, Phutthapoom Road, on the side of the road along the railway, Phosadet Subdistrict, Mueang District. The delegation received a briefing on water management and a situation report by Mr. Kraisorn Wisitwong, Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The Prime Minister planted a Sri Maha Bodhi tree there. The third point was the Community Digital Center in Ma-Muang Song Ton Subdistrict, Mueang District. They visited local produce and met with the people from the informal sector, including self-employed workers and labour volunteers in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, who came to welcome them. The labour volunteers play an important role in bringing the Ministry of Labour’s missions to the area, providing people with jobs, skills, careers, and income. They ensure the people have protection and have sustainable social security as well. At present, there are 8,110 volunteer workers across the country.
          Nakhon Si Thammarat Province has a workforce of 914,559 people, whereby 899,722 people are employed, and 14,837 are unemployed. During COVID-19, the Ministry of Labour’s agencies paid benefits in case of unemployment due to force majeure to 7,853 people, amounting to 51,611,294.40 Baht. There were 874 establishments that applied for unemployment benefits in the event of force majeure from January 1, 2020, to October 3, 2021. The Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Labour Office organized activities to inspect workplaces, give advice on the implementation of disease prevention measures in the workplace, such as the DMHTT measures, assessment of the establishment through the Thai stop covid plus platform, employee screening through the Thai save Thai platform, implementing the bubble and seal measure and preparing support in case of detecting COVID-19 in the workplace. A total of 33 establishments were inspected for a total of 3,071 employees.
