Content Description

On December 21, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, joined the delegation of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha, to visit Chiang Rai Province to preside over the exhibition of ICT inventions of Thai and Japanese students, at the Thailand-Japan Student ICT Fair 2022 (TJ-SIF2022), at Chulabhorn Science Academy Auditorium. The delegation also visited the digital agriculture pilot project with 5G technology at the Pha Mee Training Center. Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Province, Mr. Somwang Boonrayong, along with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chiang Rai, labour volunteers and related agencies in the area gave a welcome.
Mr. Suchart said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha, gives importance to improving the quality of life of all target groups of workers; every worker is considered an important part of driving the country’s economic and social development. The COVID-19 situation has eased in the present. It has resulted in the recovery of the Thai tourism business sector, especially in Chiang Rai in this period, during the cold season, when many Thai and foreign tourists travel to the northern region. The Ministry of Labour emphasizes the acceleration of career promotion for the people in the area, to encourage employment and skills development for people to have jobs, a stable career, and income.
On the same occasion, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart also led the Prime Minister to visit and support the Disabled Persons Association of Mae Sai District, which has been trained by the Chiang Rai Skill Development Institute 20 in a 60-hour women’s clothing sewing course, and 30 hours on making souvenirs from local fabrics. The group making fabric products and souvenirs has operated in conjunction with Nattaya’s local cloth shop in the production of souvenirs. They are hired for tailoring to deliver products to shops in the community. It is a good way to generate extra income for members with disabilities.
Mr. Suchart also met and supported labour volunteers at the subdistrict level, and a network of volunteer workers in Chiang Rai Province, who went to welcome the delegation. The labour volunteers coordinate the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the area. They are people who sacrifice and devote themselves to the public, working closely with people in the community to coordinate labour services so that people have jobs, skills, occupations, and income, are protected and have sustainable social security as well.
