The Labour Minister presented trophies to outstanding working women on International Women’s Day 2019, comprising 26 awards in 7 categories, honouring the power of Thai working women as major force in the development of the country’s economy.
On March 8, 2019, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the International Women’s Day 2019 award ceremony, alongside Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s executives at the Miracle Grand Ballroom at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok. The Labour Minister said that women now have a major role in national growth, a great development from the past both at the executive and operational levels, and are also more accepted in the entrepreneurial community. The Ministry of Labour as an agency with a critical mission on labour protection, recognizes the importance of all working women as important forces in building strong families and driving country’s economy forward. Thus, it aims to encourage women workers to receive equal rights and protection, free of discrimination, have stability and a good quality of life, as well as cooperate with all sectors in promoting and supporting women’s roles and equality for men and women. This will be an important mechanism in developing the country to progress steadily and sustainably.
The Labour Minister presented 26 awards to outstanding women in 7 categories, including: 1. Outstanding women executives’ category, 8 awards. 2. Outstanding women practitioners, 8 awards. 3. Outstanding worker networks, 5 awards. 4. Outstanding independent women professionals, 2 awards. 5. Outstanding artist, 1 award. 6. Outstanding media, 1 award and 7. Outstanding academic on women workers, 1 award. People who met the qualifications included Deputy Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand Mrs. Pawana Aungkanuwat, awarded outstanding woman in state enterprise management, Director of the International Arts and Crafts Promotion Center for Women Mrs. Ampawan Pichalai, awarded for exceptional woman in government management, Senior Executive Vice President of Central Group Mrs. Supatra Chirathivat, awarded for outstanding woman in management, Ms. Kalayanee Jiamsakul (Biw Kalayanee), awarded for excellent female artist and Ms. Suparat Nakboonnam, awarded for exceptional woman in media. There were also other exciting activities, such as a talk show on “modern women with volunteer spirit for a stronger Thai society” by Colonel Dr. Pongsak Tangkana and an exhibition in honour of HRH Princess Soamsawali, a presentation on outstanding working women, a display of awarded products in the past and career demonstrations for example.
