MOL and GSB Help Workers Release Informal Debts

               Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat collaborated with the Government Savings Bank to help workers release informal debts, create jobs, occupations and have a stable income for a good quality of life.

               Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwatchaired the meeting to discuss skills development projects and promote livelihoods between the Government Savings Bank and the Department of Skill Development. Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Pakin Sommitthanakun, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, the Director of the Planning and Information Division, the Government Savings Bank’s relevant officials and representatives also attended the meeting at the Saengsingkaew conference room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.

               The objective of the project is to develop labour skills for people who have the state welfare card or are interested in self-employment, to receive skills development to have knowledge and abilities. This will enable participants to lead their career and have an income to support themselves and their families, improving their quality of life and reducing disparity. The effort further supports future economic growth, including more channels for finding funding sources for the self-employed. The Government Savings Bank will organize financial literacy training to build basic financial literacy skills and access to funding sources in the system. It will further create a good financial attitude and adjust spending behavior to suit those who have received vocational training from the Department of Skill Development, to build financial stability and prevent the occurrence of informal debt problems. The Department of Skill Development will promote and support labour skills training as well as the issuance of certificates to those who have been trained for further use.

               The Director-General of the Department of Skill Development said in the past, the Department of Skill Development has continuously collaborated with the Government Savings Bank, such as in credit programs for trained persons from the Department of Skill Development and multi-purpose mechanic course projects to develop skills and promote occupation for those who have a government welfare card, or for those who are interested in self-employment, so that people who pass such training have funds to continue their career,

               The Deputy Labour Minister added that the Ministry of Labour, by the Department of Skill Development, is determined to support all workers to have skills, career, income, and access to financial services so that the workforce can escape informal debt.
