Labour Minister Updates Timelines for “Section 33, We Love Each Other” Project Following Krungthai Bank’s Confirmation

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the confirmed timeline for the “Section 33, we love each other” project after submitting a letter to the Ministry of Finance. Krungthai Bank has confirmed the application period.

          On February 6, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the progress of the “Section 33, we love each other” project. Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, instructed the support and care for the workforce affected by Covid-19, including employers and companies like family members. Everything has to be done within the framework of the law. The Ministry of Labour was instructed to discuss with the Ministry of Finance, Bureau of the Budget, the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) to add remedies for insured persons under Section 33 to be equal to other groups the state has already supported. The project aims to alleviate the cost of living for insured persons under Section 33 affected by COVID-19. Therefore, the government will offer remedies of 4,000 Baht per person with the following conditions: 1) Must be a Thai national. 2) Be an insured person under Section 33. 3) Not have a state benefit card, and 4) Have deposits in a financial institution not exceeding 500,000 Baht.
          Mr. Suchart said that a letter was sent to the Ministry of Finance in the latest updates, and Krungthai Bank has confirmed the time for processing various procedures. The timeline as follows: 1) Register via the website www.S33weloveeachother.com and check for eligibility of rights from February 21 to March 7, 2021. 2) The bank checks the data and processes the screening from March 8 to 14, 2021. 3) Applicants confirm themselves via the “Pao Tang” application from March 15 to 21, 2021. 4) Receive a credit limit of 1,000 Baht through the “Pao Tang” application on March 22 and 29, and April 5 and 12, 2021. 5) Start spending on purchases of goods and services with stores within the project from March 22 to May 31, 2021.
          It is expected that there will be 9.27 million people eligible to receive the remedies from the project, using a total budget of 37,100 million Baht.
