Labour Minister Upholds Royal Teachings for 4.0

Content Description

Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the commencement of the academic seminar on “Labour Change to 4.0 :  Where are we?”, which took place at 09.00 on 26 January at the Berkley Pratunam Hotel in Bangkok. The Ministry of Labour joined efforts with the National Labour Development Advisory Council which provides directions and labour solutions to the Ministry of Labour. In his speech he said, “Government policy will lead the nation to a Thailand 4.0 through development strategies for internal strengthening under civil state measures. Economic structural changes will need to be geared towards a value-based economy, strengthening industries and integrating advanced technology in adding value to SME output. Integration of advanced technology may impact unskilled workers in manufacturing, resulting in professional instability.”

The Labour Minister continued, “Today’s seminar has invited relevant organizations and knowledgeable academics to share information on human resource development directions in support of a Thailand 4.0, and the subsequent impact on the Thai workforce. The seminar will discuss evaluation on the preparation of entering into the 4.0 era, and will also acknowledge comments and concerns from all stakeholders. All participants here are key representatives who can provide insightful information which will be carefully considered in the Ministry of Labour’s next steps.”

The seminar was organized to acknowledge opinions from stakeholders on current situations and effects on both businesses and the workforce, once the nation becomes a Thailand 4.0. Information from the seminar will benefit the government, the Ministry of Labour and relevant units greatly, in considering preparation on human resource development in alignment with the 20-year strategy on people development.
