Labour Minister Visits Pathum Thani to Follow Up Progress

             Today (15 September 2017), Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the meeting to follow up progress on work in accordance with government policy, and to acknowledge obstacles and suggestions from the private sector and relevant units. The meeting took place at the Bua Luang Conference room in the new building at the Pathum Thani city hall. He explained the meetings objective to drive labour-related work in alignment with the Ministry of Labour and government policy, as set out by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, who also assigned government units under the National Council for Peace and Order to proactively visit the people and listen to their problems. Information gathered can then be used in devising a development roadmap and effective resolutions to cater to each individual local need.

             In this meeting, the Labour Minister presented operational framework to leaders of affiliated units from Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and Saraburi. The Labour Minister emphasized the importance of a proactive approach and thinking about minimizing risk of problems by working as partners and networks for alignment. He also urged all parties to share awareness on the Ministry of Labour’s work and accessibility to efficient services.

             From there the Labour Minister and committee visited the local communities, leaders, volunteer networks and labour volunteers in the 4 provinces at the Sala Rak Pathum building in Pathum Thani to listen to areas of improvement for informal workers and the low-income sector on promoting employment and stabilize income. They then visited Thai  Stanley Electric PCL in Mueang district of Pathum Thani, a socially responsible organization which adheres to occupational safety, health and environmental standards to elevate workplace safety. The company is accredited with TLS 8001 and the Zero Accident certification.
