Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop on capacity building for labour volunteers to integrate with the mission of the Ministry of Labour. Deputy Provincial Governor of Roi Et Mr. Tavee Jongprasert gave a welcome speech and Labour Academic Export Ms. Achaniya Mai, acting Labour Officer for Roi Et gave a report. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that labour volunteers are essential players in the operations in all areas, whether it is public health, community development, disaster prevention, and mitigation, protecting the environment, security, justice, or labour. Each department will appoint volunteers to help with all operations. It can be considered that volunteers are people with great sacrifice, as volunteers are people who sacrifice their time that should be spent as a career or time from their personal and family lives. They are essential people to the development of the country and a significant force to work with both government and private organizations to help people who are suffering. He said that he would like to encourage everyone to study and exchange experiences from speakers and cooperate in various activities of the training for development. This will help the volunteers themselves and labour missions. When the training is finished, he said he encouraged the volunteers to apply their knowledge to perform in their duties, which will benefit the people, villages, communities, and families more efficiently and effectively.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak also praised the labour volunteers for having a volunteer spirit and sacrifice for the public. In working with the Ministry of Labour, the volunteers act as a medium for cooperation, helping to liaise with government agencies under the Ministry of Labour and people who experience labour problems in the community and society that they are involved in. The volunteers are always on the lookout for unfair labour practices, issues in using foreign workers in the local area, launching awareness campaigns and strengthening immunity in drug prevention for employees/employers in workplaces with less than 10 employees to be aware of drug problems. Currently, Roi Et has 193 labour volunteers in the district as a medium for cooperation. They help liaise with government agencies under the Ministry of Labour and people experiencing labour problems in the community. In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak has handed the Skill Standard Certificate of Patient’s Helper (NA) at the Level 1 skills, at Churavej Hospital.
