On May 18, 2020, at 10.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng observed the operations of the COVID-19 Report Center at the Social Security Office, Nonthaburi Province, Ministry of Labour. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat also joined the occasion. The Labour Minister’s Assistant revealed that unemployment benefits due to force majeure from the COVID-19 situation have been paid to 984,005 insured persons as of May 17, 2020, totaling 5,316.066 million Baht. For those who have already applied for the benefits but have not yet received payment or who have received a letter rejecting the payment of the said benefits, insured persons file their case to the COVID-19 Report Center, the Social Security Office, Ministry of Labour, which is located at the Social Security Offices in all areas, including Social Security Offices in the provinces and in central Bangkok, located at the Social Security Office Headquarters, Tiwanon Road, Talat Khwan, Mueang, Nonthaburi. All centers are open on business days, operating from 8:00 to 18.00 hours.
The Labour Minister’s Assistant further said that insured persons who are about to file for unemployment benefits from force majeure, for convenience and speed, please do the following: 1. Check your bank account that the account is still usable and not a closed account. 2. Review the correct bank account details when applying for the benefits. 3. If the employer can be a party collecting the employee’s benefit claims, providing a certificate of absence from the employer for filing with the Social Security Office will be faster.
