Labour Office in Abu Dhabi Arranges Fourth Friendly Sports Competition for Thai Workers

On the 4th December 2015, H.E. Mr. Warawudh Chuwiruch, Ambassador of Thailand to Abu Dhabi presided over the commencement of the fourth friendly sports event which took place at the Zayed Sports Center in Abu Dhabi. The event was organized by the Labour Division at the Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, with Minister Counsellor (on labour) Mr. Poonsak Pramong explaining the objective of the sporting competition which included sepak takraw football and local sports to promote Thai workers’ beneficial use of free time and to strengthen collaboration between Thai workers and communities in the UAE, as well as allowing Thai workers to relax from work.

The event ran successfully with sponsorship from the Thai Royal Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Thai Women Association in Abu Dhabi, the Thai Chefs Association in Abu Dhabi, labour volunteers and several organizations with Thai workers. The event was attended by many Thai people from various sectors totaling approximately 300 participants. Furthermore, there were distributions of informative brochures regarding labour laws and invitations to participants to join the five commandments project.
