On the 19th – 22nd of May 2015, the Ministry of Labour’s government inspection committee consisting of Inspector General Wisanu Panaworn (committee chairman), Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s inspector Mr. Saeng-ngern Khaolikit, Department of Employment’s inspector Mrs. Arunee Jitpatima, Department of Skills Development’s inspector Mr. Sathien Pojpohsri, Office of Social Security’s inspector Mrs. Petchara Tawara gave a supervisory visit to the Japanese Labour Office for 2015.

Minister Counsellor (on labour) Mrs. Suchada Cheecharoen concluded the issues of the visit, followed by the government inspecting committee’s courtesy call to the Ambassador (H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow) who held a welcoming party for the committee. The committee and the Ambassador also consulted official issues, with the focus on increasing importance of human resources development in JTEPA, social security in the Federation of Thai Industries and processes with Thai workers in violation of laws.

The government inspector committee visited trainees in the IM project and trainees through recruitment companies in a total of 5 organizations. The trainees were found to be happy with work, income and living conditions; only a few workers were overly drinking on holidays with some experiencing problems in communicating in Japanese, with concern of not being able to pass the first year examinations (where they would not be able to complete the 3-year program). The inspector committee advised, motivated and cautioned the trainees, as well as presented them with souvenirs. The Labour Office in Japan thanked the government inspection committee for the guidance and advice provided in improving efficiency and effectiveness of work for the Thai workers, as well as words of motivation for happily working and living abroad.
