Lawyers Council Meets Labour Minister’s Assistant to Review “Force Majeure” for Unemployment Caused by Covid-19

         Today (April 10, 2020) at 11.30 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng chaired a meeting with Secretariat of the Lawyers Council Mr. Worayuth Ponsuk and the board of directors of Max Smile Company Limited and Woralak Property Public Company Limited, operating the Beat Hotel Bangkok, and Woralak International Company Limited operating the Hi Hotel. The meeting reviewed the interpretation of “force majeure” in accordance with the Ministerial Regulations to receive unemployment benefits as a result of force majeure from the impact of Covid-19. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat also attended the meeting, which took place at the Prasong Rananant Conference Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The objective of the meeting was so that insured persons in the social security system are entitled to unemployment benefits under the said ministerial regulations in order to be fair to those who are insured persons.
