On August 30, 2018, at 10.00, Mrs. Petcharat Sinauy, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor discussed with Mr. Graeme Buckley, Director of the Thailand-Cambodia Labor Office, and Mr. Alain Pelce, Senior Labor Standards Officer and Labor Law Expert at the ILO Conference Room, Bangkok.
The purpose of this discussion was to exchange views on C188 on issues related to ship structure. According to fisheries operators in 22 provinces, concerns about the structure of Thai fishing vessels may not be adapted to the provisions of the Convention. Consultation should be conducted to understand the details of the Convention to achieve a common accord in line with the principles of the Convention, there should be a tripartite consultation to improve the working conditions and living conditions of fishermen to ensure a better quality of life with international standards.
