Ministry of Labour Launches Model Hospital on Health Promotion

          On 6 January 2017 at 10.45 hours, Vice Minister of Labour General Charoen Nopsuwan presided over the opening of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Services Division on the first floor of the Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital. The division aims to promote insurers to look after their health and change for better and healthier behaviours, as well as improve the working environment to promote better health and quality of workforce. A healthy workforce will lead to higher productivity, organizational output and improve the country’s economy in order to drive sustainability.

 


          After the opening ceremony, General Charoen revealed that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has partnered with the Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, in making it a model for health promotion and disease prevention services, with integration of advanced technology in order to move forwards towards a Thailand 4.0. This year, the Social Security Office will expand its network of model hospitals on health promotion and disease prevention to another 40 hospitals, comprising 30 public and 10 private hospitals which equated to 20 percent of the total 240 locations. The Ministry of Labour has implemented important policies on protection for over 12 million insurers, in alignment with Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s policies on health promotion and elimination of economic and social inequality. The Ministry of Labour has consistently given importance to service improvement and health management, and has therefore gifted insurers with a New Year’s present on health promotion and disease prevention services, starting 1 January 2017.
An academic seminar on “The Start and the Next Steps” which discussed benefits for health promotion and disease prevention. Participants included executives from the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Public Health, the Social Security Office, employer and employee representatives and insurers and staff from hospitals, totaling 250 people.
