Ministry of Labour organized training workshop Labor inspectors at PIPO center 22 coastal provinces

          On April 4, 2018, at 09.30, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor presided over the opening ceremony of the PIPO Training Center, along with Mr. René Robert, ILO Labor Expert in Asia and Pacific (ILO Representative). Ms. Anna Engblom, Senior Coordinator, Migrant Workers Promotion and Protection Program (Phase 2) TRIANGLE in ASEAN, attended the rehearsal of the trainees’ Workers at the center PIPO operations in 22 coastal provinces (85 assays) at the conference room at 5th Floor, Ministry of Labor. Deputy Permanent Secretary for Labor said that H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo ordered the training of labor inspectors from the Ministry of Labor at PIPO centers in 22 coastal provinces, including Trat, Chanthaburi, Rayong, Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Narathiwat, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun to provide knowledge and understanding of the workforce of PIPO labor inspectors such as knowledge of the use of iris scanning data to prove the identity of migrant workers. Fisheries, principles and guidelines for fishery inspection to be able to work correctly and in the same direction.

         Mr. Jirat added it is very important to work in the PIPO Center. This is because of the protection of fishing rights, both Thai and foreign workers to be protected equally. The staff at the center is assigned to work as a representative of the Ministry of Labor and Thailand to work with other relevant government agencies. This training will be a guideline to protect the rights of fishermen to comply with the law to prevent and solve the problem of labor exploitation, eliminate illegal child labor. The problem of human trafficking in the workforce has been further strengthened.
