Mrs.Petcharat Sinauy, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor presided over the public hearing to provide suggestions for the drafting of the Prevention and Suppression of Labor Force Act BE …., in association with fisheries operators, government representatives, NGOs and there are about 200 academics at the meeting room of Samut Sakhon Fisheries Association, Muang District, Samut Sakhon. The objective is to listen to the opinions of the drafting of the Act on the Prevention and Suppression of forced labor, BE …. with the fisheries operators in Samut Sakhon and neighboring areas. There are no laws in Thailand that cover the defamation of unlawful non-trafficking offenses. There is no mechanism to protect the victims. It can not prevent and solve the problem of forced labor effectively. It is necessary to consider the enactment of this Act, to determine the nature of the offense to cover such offense and to set up measures to assist and protect victims of forced labor to comply with human rights principles. This will create stability in labor, economy and society of the country.
