MOL Assigns Advisor to Monitor “Employment Promotion for Persons with Social Disabilities under Section 35”

            On October 15, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, as chairperson for the meeting on “Employment Promotion for Persons with Social Disabilities under Section 35”. The meeting listened to guidelines on supporting people with disabilities in the area to have work, earn an income, and enter society with dignity and equal rights, not leaving anyone behind. The occasion took place at the Phetchaburi Provincial Employment Office. Ms. Udom Aumla-or, Phetchaburi Employment Officer and chairperson of local leaders (village headsman and community leaders) in Phetchaburi Province covering eight districts, also attended the meeting. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gives importance to promoting employment for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. This is to help workers, especially people with disabilities who have potential and want to work to support and take care of themselves. The nature of the jobs is to work for social services or communities in the area, where there is no need to travel far from home to work.

            Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that, “This support includes the private sector in hiring and government agencies in providing jobs such as subdistrict health promotion hospitals, educational institutions, and temples. The effort is an integration to create opportunities for people with disabilities to have jobs, sustainable income, and to be able to enter society equally. The promotion of employment for the socially disabled is an important policy by the government which has been assigned to the Ministry of Labour. The Department of Employment has accelerated the drive to help and care for people with disabilities who have potential and desire to work. Such initiatives require the public and private sectors to support employment. This is an important matter to promote and develop the quality of life, creating opportunities and income that is appropriate and sustainable income,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.

            On this occasion, Cal-Comp Electronics Thailand PCL supported the employment of 125 persons with disabilities, comprising 65 positions for people with social disabilities and 60 persons requiring other assistance.
