MOL Commences Training to Develop Officers Working on the Prevention and Resolution of Human Trafficking in Labour, Forced Labour, or Services in 22 Coastal Provinces

          Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour and the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, to chair the opening ceremony of the project to develop officers working on the prevention and resolution of human trafficking in labour, and forced labour or services in the 22 coastal provinces. The occasion took place at the Diamond Plaza Hotel, Surat Thani Province. The Deputy Governor of Surat Thani Province and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the province also attended the opening ceremony. The participants in the training consisted of officials under the Ministry of Labour in the 22 coastal provinces.
          The training in the project to develop officers working on the prevention and resolution of human trafficking in labour and forced labour or services in the 22 coastal provinces had the following objectives: 1) For trainees to have the knowledge and understanding of the policies, law, regulations, and guidelines relating to forced labour or services. 2) To provide trainees with a better understanding of the National Referral Mechanism Action Plan, case management, and protecting victims of human trafficking and forced labour or services, B.E. 2565. 3) To provide trainees with a better understanding of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the initial screening of forced labour or services, and human trafficking in labour. 4) To provide trainees with knowledge and understanding about the methods of identifying victims of forced labour and human trafficking in labour with a multidisciplinary team. The target groups are civil servants holding a position not lower than an ordinary civil servant in the academic category, at the operational level, or in the general category at the professional level or equivalent. Participants came from the Provincial Labour Offices of 22 seaside provinces, namely Krabi, Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Chumphon, Trang, Trat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phang Nga, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phuket, Ranong, Rayong, Songkhla, Satun, Samut Prakan, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon and Surat Thani. Officers from the Surat Thani Province Labour Protection and Welfare Office and the Surat Thani Provincial Employment Office working at the fishing boat checkpoint in front of Donsak, the fishing boat checkpoint in front of Koh Samui, and the Surat Thani Boat Control Center, the Fisheries Checkpoint Management Center, District 7, Surat Thani (PIPO) also joined during August 8-9, 2022, at the Diamond Plaza Hotel, Surat Thani Province.
