MOL Conducts Official Visit in Israel

          On June 12, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Apinya Sujitjanon and a committee of departmental inspectors including Mr. Suwan Duangta, Mr. Chakrit Decha and Mrs. Udomluk Sornsari paid a courtesy call and discussed official matters with Thai Ambassador to Israel in Tel Aviv, Ms. Penprapa Wongkowit at the Ambassador’s residence. The parties exchanged opinions on the issues of unrest in Israel, the protection of rights of Thai workers, a follow-up on the visit of the Minister of Labour and the promotion of Thai workers to learn and apply Israeli agricultural technology when returning to Thailand.

          The committee then traveled to inspect and visit the Labour Department’s staff at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv. The committee received a briefing on the mission and performance of the Labour Department and provided advice on improving the performance following the ministry’s mission to protect the rights of Thai workers in Israel. The committee also discussed a list of representatives of Thai labour networks in different areas, the preparation of a Thai labour database and a database where complaints are filed to the Labour Department, compiling a list of employers who do not follow employment contracts and increasing channels and awareness of claims that Thai workers recognize.
