MOL Meets to Promote and Protect Migrants’ Rights

          Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul as chairman of the advisory committee on the TRIANGLE in ASEAN 1/2019, which was also attended by the ministry’s Inspector General, Mr. Somsak Apiwantanakul at the Alpha Meeting Room, Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok, today (January 14, 2019) at 13.00 hours. The project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote legal development related to foreign workers in Thailand and to have access to protection. The Program Advisory Committee (PAC) which is a tripartite committee, is the project driver. There is also a mission to consider and set guidelines for the implementation of the promotion of protection for migrant workers by the ILO, financially supported by the Australian and Canadian governments. This project has 2 operational phases; in 5 years, which has been completed and continued in phase 2 from 2015 to 2025.
 
          The purpose of this meeting was for the PAC committee to acknowledge the report of the meeting on February 22, 2018, and recognize the results of the activities carried out according to the annual action plan for 2018, together with discussions and approval for the program for the implementation of projects in 2019.
