On October 30, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, chaired the commencement of the “Nikom Chandravithu Day” in 2020. Chairman of the Executive Committee of Chandravithu Foundation Mr. Thapabut Chomsavee, reported the event. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Aumpun Thuvavit joined in celebrating the event at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The seminar had the objective to enhance the participants’ knowledge on the topic of social security and since 1990. The event promoted the exchange of information and opinions among participants about the status of the fund and the social security system, how successful it has been, the major problems, and how the Ministry should continue to reform the social security system. This will lead to the stability and sustainability of the fund, benefit upgrades, and improved quality of life for the insured in the future. It will also promote finding possibilities to cooperate with different partners between government sectors, the insured, organizations, and the public, both domestically and internationally, in the reform of the social security system for the security and sustainability of the fund, benefit upgrades, and improved quality of life for the insured in the future.
The event hosted a lecture on “30 Years of Thai Social Security and its Reform Towards a Stable and Sustainable Future: Considerations for the Creation of a Welfare State of Thailand”, and a discussion on the topic of “30 Years of Thai Social Security: Success, Problems and An Approach to a Stable and Sustainable Future”.
