MOL Prepares MOL Prepares Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers for 2023-2027

            On January 18, 2022, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong presided over the workshop’s opening ceremony to prepare the Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers 2023 – 2027. Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud joined in honoring the opening ceremony of the meeting at Jompol P. Phibulsongkram meeting room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour said that the COVID-19 situation greatly affected various occupations. It has resulted in new career models of employment through digital platforms as well as causing more workers to choose occupations known as informal workers. Academically, it is expected that even if the COVID-19 situation unfolds, the career direction will continue to trend this way in the future. Therefore, the Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers 2023 – 2027 is an important academic tool that will enable informal workers to be promoted, protected, and developed to have a better quality of life. It is believed that with the cooperation of everyone in the meeting, once completed, the Ministry of Labour will have an effective Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers 2023 – 2027 and continue to progress further.

            Today’s action plan workshop brainstormed a SWOT Analysis on the management of informal workers over the next five years and prepared the (draft) Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers 2023 – 2027. Participants in the meeting to prepare plans included representatives from government agencies, civil society, and a network of informal workers, totaling 100 people.
