MOL Prepares to Send 25 Youths to WorldSkills in Russia on August 22-27

               The Labour Minister gave a press conference on the delivery of Thai youths to participate in the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, which will be held between August 22 to 27 in Kazan, Russia. Thailand sent 25 young people to compete in 23 branches, in 5 professional groups. The Labour Minister showed confidence in the capabilities of the young competitors who will be able to win medals and build a reputation for Thailand.

 

 

 

           On August 9, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul presided over the press conference on the delivery of youths to participate in the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, at the Ministry of Labour. He said that the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be held between August 22 to 27, 2019, in Kazan, Russia The Department of Skill Development will send 25 young people to compete in 23 branches, in 5 professional groups consisting of: 1. Industrial manufacturing technology in 9 groups, namely mechatronics, mechanical engineering through computer design, CNC lathing, CNC milling, polytechnics and automation, welding, mobile robotics, model design and mold building and assembly 2. Fashion and creatives in 3 groups, namely flower arrangement, fashion technology and graphic design 3. Transportation and logistics in 2 groups, namely automotive technology and car paint 4. Construction and building technology in 5 groups, namely tiling, building electrical technology, brick laying, wooden furniture and cooling system technology and 5. Personal and social services in 4 groups, including hair dressing, cooking, food and beverage service and beauty.
           The Labour Minister said that the delivery of youths to participate in the WorldSkills Kazan, aligns with the Ministry of Labour’s policy in raising the quality of the workforce to super workers. Participation will raise visibility at the global level and boost Thailand’s reputation, and will motivate and encourage youths and craftsmen to upskill and meet international standards. The initiative will also contribute to reducing the shortage of skilled workers. Thailand’s participation in this event is supported by many agencies in the training phase, to teach the competitors about theory, application and assessment under virtual circumstances. The competitors are also taught language, culture, traditions and customs in Russia. Therefore, there is confidence that youths will do well, build a reputation for the country, and is a great opportunity to win medals for Thai people. The prize money that the youths will receive for a gold medal is 372,500 Baht, 248,500 Baht for a silver medal and 124,000 Baht for a bronze medal. There is also 51,000 Baht as a commendation prize and 10,000 Baht for consolation prize.
