On October 28, 2021, at 12.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong met the leaders of the Labour Network for Peoples Rights and employees of Brilliant Alliance Thai Global Co., Ltd., led by President of the Federation of Textile Industries, Mr. Sia Champathong, Labour Network for Peoples Rights member Ms. Thanaporn Wichan, Chairman of the Triumph Office Ms. Jitnawatcharee Panad, Secretary-General of the Triumph Office Ms. Tuenjai Wangkham, Vice Chairman of the Triumph Office Ms. Wasana Konghintang, employees of Brilliant Co., Ltd Ms. Kanchai Kaewchoo and Ms. Chonlakan Khuadang, including 50 other employees of Brilliant Co., Ltd., to follow up on the progress of the four demands as follows: 1) For the government to take action to help pay the 242,689,862.71 Baht in compensation for the part that the 1,388 employees have not received. 2) To follow up and bring the employer responsible for bringing back all the money that must be paid for compensation to the government. 3) Criminal prosecution against the employer to set an example for other foreign investors, and 4) To seek measures to prevent foreign investors from investing and laying off employees, and fleeing back to their countries without compensation. The occasion took place at the foyer on the ground floor, Ministry of Labour.
The results of the Employee Welfare Fund Committee meeting no. 14/2021 on October 28, 2021, approved in principle to amend the regulations to increase the rate of welfare payments to be higher than the original. The subcommittee was instructed to organize a meeting to study the guidelines and the appropriate rate of increase by analyzing the relevant data in early November. It will be presented to the Board for consideration at its 15th meeting by November 2021, and the amended regulations will be announced in the Government Gazette to come into force as soon as possible.
