Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei discussed with SEAMEO VOTECH

         On 30 August 2010, Mr. Anachak Sutayon, Minister Counsellor (labour) and Mrs. Maimong Maming, official of Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei met for discussing with Awang Alias Haji Baka, director of SEAMEO, Mr. Hj. Nordin Hj. Ahmad financial manager and Dr.Conazon Dauz Sampang, consultant of SEAMEO VOTECH located in Gadong.
        This visit aims to acknowledge information and induce Asian organizations to support the pilot project for vocational students and Thai students to have a chance to be trained in Brunei as well as to concretely implement ASEAN educational framework in order to successfully create and develop Thai workers for MOL and MOE. In this way, SEAMEO VOTECH will be a network in enhancing human resource and developing labour skill for vocational students/Thai students in order them to consequently have chance to be trained in Brunei. This also helps promote cooperation in labour skill development. 
       After the discussion, they agreed and were willing to render full supports to Thai workers with the degree from vocational educational and higher vocational degree to higher academic degree in all fields. They also informed that a Visa will be issued differently based on the training period. Also, Brunei has occationally accepted students from Asian countries to be trained in Information technology from Singapore, for example. Therefore, it should make cross-internship coordination between Thai and Brunei should be accomplished in the near future. SEAMEO VOTECH is ready to support and establish working group to set the framework and guideline. Initially, both parties will report their opinions from the discussion         Brunei’s implementation on this matter is done in compliance with MOL administrators’ policy as they approved to launch the pilot project for vocational students and Thai students in order them to be trained labour skills in Brunei’s workplaces. This helps keep in readiness of to regulators further. 
workforces to enter into labour market with effeicent performance and to drive forward national economy according to Asian framework.
