Office of Labour Affairs in Japan joins Thai festival

Office of Labour Affairs in Japan on May 11 and 12 participated in the 14th Thai festival, jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo and government agencies at a public park in Shibuya ward of the capital. Mrs. Chantana Boon-Arj, minister counsellor (Labour Affairs) and Mr. Suchart Sangurai, Counselor (Labour Affairs), attended the opening ceremony and welcomed guests attended the party.  The guests included Mr. Kyoei Yanagisawa, CEO of IM Japan, and Ms. Namiko Oki, a representative of ASEAN educational and social welfare foundation. Also, trainers, employers, trainees and Thai workers visited the festival. It is estimated some 300,000 people visited the two-day event.

 

The Thai festival is held once a year and is aimed at publicising Thai culture, food, fruits, products, traditional dance and arts. More than 250 shops opened booths at the festival. Among those opening the booths were the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International and the Royal Projects Foundation. An exhibition on Japan-ASEAN-Thailand agricultural cooperation as well as Thai food cooking demonstration, Thai boxing and classical music were also performed by Thai celebrities and Miss Thailand winners.
