Office of Labour Affairs in Taipei attends 2012 Asia Regional Forum on Combating Human Trafficking

Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) Mrs. Ratiwan Suntra attended the 2012 Asia Regional Forum on Combating Human Trafficking, held from May 29-June1,2012, at Immigration Bureau of Taiwan in Taipei.

            

 

 

 

Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) Mrs. Ratiwan Suntra attended the 2012 Asia Regional Forum on Combating Human Trafficking, held from May 29-June1,2012, at Immigration Bureau of Taiwan in Taipei.

            

 

 

The three-day forum brought together 37 representatives from 13 Asian Pacific countries, including officials from Thailand Trade and Economic Office, Office of Labour Affairs in Taipei, and Immigration Bureau of Thailand. They shared information, experiences, and views on solutions to human trafficking in Asian Pacific countries.
 
At the forum, there were lectures on several issues including, human trafficking prevention policy in Taiwan and the city’s current human trafficking situation by experts from the Immigration Bureau of Taiwan, protection measures for foreign workers’ rights by officials from Council of Labour Affairs’ Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training, fight against human trafficking by officials from American Institute in Taiwan, case study on human trafficking surveillance by representatives from  Hsinchu County Special Operation Brigade, and case study on human trafficking investigation by representatives from Taiwanese justice ministry.
 
The participating representatives then exchanged information, experiences, and views on various issues concerning human trafficking. They then had a work visit to a hotline center, a refugee camp in Nantou, and a detention center in Taipei.
