Office of Labour Affairs Japan jointly arranged offside Consular service of Royal Thai Embassy in Ibaraki

   On Sunday 29th August 2010, Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo arranged offside consular service activity in Ibaraki, located 130 km. northwest of Tokyo in order to offer the services to Thai workers resided in.  As part of labour related works, Mr. Kamol Sawatchukeo, Minister Counsellor (labour) and Mr. Niran Umeura, coordinate officer jointly offered the services as follows;
     1. Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo has arranged offside consular service activity once a month in the provinces in which Thai people reside in so as to introduce consular service to them. The most popular services that Thai people seek for relates to health check-up and other labour related services.
     2. The offside consular service opens for service between 10.00 am.-03.00 pm. There were 150 Thai people seeking a service and 3 asking for the advice on labour issues.
     3. Previously, Ibaraki had 5,000 Thai people resided in of which 4,000 people obtained legal visa and 1,000 people stayed ilegally. Currently, there are only 4,000 Thai people resided in. Last year after the new immigration control act has become effective, Japan government was getting more strictly with foreigners living illegally. Hence, illegal Thai people have then been arrested and deported to Thailand. The rest will be the ones getting married with Japanese or being a child of Japanese spouse mostly obtained spouse visa. Those who are female mostly works as employee in agricultural sector such as picking up eggs and vegetables and cleaning vegetables, etc. For those who are male mostly work as welder with 12,000-15,000 Yen a day in average earned depending on each personal skills.
