Dr. Rösler – Labour market is performing well
The latest figures on Germany’s labour market were published today by the Federal Statistical Office and the Federal Employment Agency. Responding to the report, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Dr. Philipp Rösler stated: "Germany’s labour market is performing well. We are even seeing a renewed rise in gainful activity. Overall, business and consumer sentiment has considerably improved in the last few months".
In March 2013, a total of 41.4 million persons resident in Germany were in employment according to provisional calculations of the Federal Statistical Office. Compared with March 2012, this was an increase of 284,000 persons in employment or 0.7% and was slightly up by 20,000 on February 2013. The number of unemployed was a good 2.54 million persons in March 2013, which was an increase of about 50,000 on a year earlier.
