“Permanent Secretary of Labor” reveals the establishment of the EEC area requires most labor-intensive production

          Today (3 April 2006), Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor attended three private sector joint committee meetings, including the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Bankers Association, at Vimarn Suriya, Dusit Thani Hotel. In the meeting, Permanent Secretary of Labor presented data, the results of the survey on the labor demand of the EEC, Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong provinces in 2016 (data as of April 1, 61), showed that the total number of migrant workers was 21,323. The most desirable workforce was the 9,506 students under M.6, followed by undergraduate 3,817 persons , 3,616 high school graduates, vocational certification 2,587 persons, 1,585 college graduates, and graduate or over 212 persons. The factory needs the most production workers, followed by the service department, sales and marketing, warehousing and transportation, other departments, general administration, finance and accounting, procurement, and planning and strategic departments. Also found Manufacturing demand was highest at 10,912, followed by 1,560 service, 1,221 other jobs, 1,106 maintenance, 1,037 production control and quality assurance.

 

          Mr. Jarin further commented that the results of the survey on the labor requirements of the EEC member provinces would be useful for determining the method of surveying and could be used as a model for conducting surveys in the rest 73 provinces including Bangkok. The Ministry of Labor will integrate the cooperation with all sectors involved in helping to complete the data more complete. They will listen to suggestions and help improve the data to be more effective to use the results of the survey of labor needs in each area to use as a basis for planning the development of manpower to support the country to continue.
