         April 27, 2026 (local time in Türkiye) – Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Director-General of the Department of Skills Development, and delegation, attended the opening ceremony of the OECD Skills Summit 2026. The ceremony was officially presided over by Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of human capital and skills development amid global transformation in the digital and green economy. The event was held at the Halic Congress Center, Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.

         The OECD Skills Summit 2026 serves as a global platform that brings together policymakers, ministers, and labour experts from OECD member and partner countries to exchange visions and shape strategic directions for skills development. The summit focuses on building lifelong learning ecosystems and advancing reskilling and upskilling initiatives to align with the demands of the global labour market.

         The participation of the Ministry of Labour’s executive delegation represents an important opportunity for Thailand to demonstrate its role on the global stage while applying knowledge and best practices from various countries to advance Thailand’s workforce development policies. Particular emphasis is being placed on strengthening competitiveness and preparing Thai workers with high-level skills to support future investment in targeted industries.
