PM Shows Concern for The One Insurance Employee and Assigned Labour Minister and SSO to Provide Full Remedies

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the event that appeared in the news about the Ministry of Finance ordering the revocation of the company’s non-life insurance business license from The One Insurance Public Company Limited and that the company is preparing to lay off over 300 employees in all branches across the country. In this regard, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayut Chan-ocha have expressed concern for the employees of the said company and instructed the Ministry of Labour to take care of the employees to receive benefits and protection under the law. Therefore, he ordered the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 3 to urgently examine the information at the head office of The One Insurance Public Company Limited to listen to employees’ issues and clarify the benefits that employees will receive from being laid off. They also spread awareness to apply as an insured person under Section 39 for people who want to continue to use social security rights.


          The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, added that from the events, the employer is obliged to notify the Social Security Office of the termination of employment within the 15th day of the month following the month of termination. They can proceed with the termination notification through the e-service system on www.sso.go.th. He encouraged employees to register for unemployed and report themselves to the website https://e-service.doe.go.th/, where employees will receive unemployment benefits at 70 percent of their wages from the 8th day of termination of employment until February 28, 2022. From March 1, 2022, they will receive an unemployment benefit of 50 percent from the date of receiving unemployment until the completion of 180 days, according to the ministerial regulations. He has emphasized that social security officers take care of the insured persons and be prepared to acknowledge problems in every aspect to speed up remedies and alleviate troubles promptly.
