The Labour Minister commenced the “Songkhla Job Fair 2019” at Central Festival Hat Yai, Songkhla, in collaboration with companies to create jobs and careers for the elderly, people with disabilities and students to reduce inequality, eliminate poverty, drive government policy following civil state guidelines and for sustainable economic and social development.
On April 25, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the opening ceremony of the “Songkhla Job Fair 2019” at Hat Yai Hall, 5th Floor, Central Festival Hat Yai Shopping Center, Hat Yai, Songkhla. The Department of Employment together with employers/companies and all relevant sectors organized the event to drive government policies following civil state guidelines to create jobs and careers for the unemployed, people looking to change jobs, seniors, people with disabilities as well as students looking for work during study. Unemployment and poverty are major national issues due to the current economic conditions affecting occupations and employment, especially new graduates preparing to enter the labour market, those terminated and the unemployed.
Pol.Gen. Adul said that the government has focused on solving poverty by defining the 20-year national strategy (2017-2036), focusing on Thailand to be a “country of stability, prosperity and sustainability” by creating jobs and generating income as a developed country, whereby development is aligned with the sufficiency economy principles. Furthermore, the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan defines the overall goal of significant development, namely to reduce inequality and poverty, to maintain a competitive and robust economy.
The Songkhla worker’s meet-and-greet, had the objective is to help the unemployed access sources of work source, through cooperation between public and private sectors to allow new graduates the opportunity to meet with employers/companies by applying innovations to apply for jobs making it easily accessible. The initiative supports the governments and the Ministry of Labour’s policy aimed at promoting and expanding employment opportunities for new graduates, the public and the unemployed. It can help solve the problem of unemployment and poverty, and can stimulate the national economy for the benefit of graduates, the unemployed, the elderly, people with disabilities and students who are interested in working during school break, to have work, gain knowledge and ability, and to jointly develop Songkhla to be stable, prosperous and sustainable in terms of the economy and society.
