“Pol.Gen. Adul” Delighted for 9th Abilympics on Showcasing Talent

        On April 26, 2019, at 11.00 hours, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the closing ceremony of the 9th Abilympics Thailand 2019 at Impact Muang Thong Thani Building 6, Pakkret, Nonthaburi.
        Pol.Gen. Adul said that the contestants in each category had excellent results, showing the potential and ability of people with disabilities in many different aspects, whether it is shooting in the studio, inventing items from waste materials, embroidery, pottery and industrial design with computer programs. In addition, there were people with disabilities people who did not participate and the general public who watched the event. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development appointed a technical subcommittee which consists of representatives from the public sector, the private sector and agencies related to the people with disabilities, which evaluates the overall performance of contestants that the work is of high quality, reflecting the ability and development of the handicraft of the disabled that can develop knowledge, skills and expertise of themselves to levels not less than ordinary people.
 

 

 

The Labour Minister congratulated those who won medals and encouraged all contestants to improve their skills continuously. He said that most importantly was that everyone gets experiences and friendship from other contestants together, including trainers and family members who are always encouraging and supporting. In this competition, gold medalist will receive a prize of 30,000 Baht, 15,000 Baht for silver medalist, 9,000 Baht for bronze medalists and 3,000 Baht for consolation, plus a certificate of honour as a reward. The competition had 20 gold medalists, 20 silver medalists, 20 bronze medalists and 20 consolation prizes, for a total of 80 people who received awards. This showed the public to accept the abilities of people with disabilities and opened opportunities for work, self-employment or work in the workplace as well.
The Department of Skill Development has prepared to coordinate with the Department of Employment to consider finding suitable positions for the disabled who wish to work in the workplace. The competition also publicised the skill level of the disabled to the public or companies looking to hire, who can contact the people with disabilities directly, such as competitors in the women’s and men’s garments field or studio photography, including some categories with a shortage of workers. Companies can also directly contact competitors to work as a company employee, such as competitors in publication design, architectural and construction design with computer programs or industrial design with computer programs.
