The Labour Minister emphasized the Ministry of Labour’s intent to be part of the drive for national economic growth, providing universal coverage for the people to live dignified lives.

Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presided over the signing ceremony of the registration agreement for insurers under Section 40 through the service counter at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour, today (January 16, 2019) at 10:30 hours. He said that the Ministry of Labour had set 5-year goals (2018 – 2022), where there will be an increase of 5 million new insurers. The Ministry of Labour is part of driving economic growth whereby the Social Security Office has implemented operations in line with policies, developing the system together with Counter Service Co., Ltd. as an agent providing registration services for the insurers under Section 40. It is the first agent through 7 Eleven stores with over 13,000 counter service symbols covering areas throughout the country.
The Labour Minister continued that the Ministry of Labour is ready to drive government services by introducing information technology systems to support public services. The collaboration is between the Social Security Office by Secretary-General, Mr. Ananchai Uthaipattanachep with Counter Service Co., Ltd. by Vice President Mr. Veeradej Akkarapolpanich. The primary objective is to improve the quality of life for the people and workers in all sectors for the better, with various benefits and government welfare. It also reduced travel costs, creates comfort and delivers services quicker with service points near homes, making it easier to register under Section 40 with a single ID card, without charge. There are also pilots for payment services for insured persons under Section 39 and 40, enhancing accuracy, speed and efficiency. For more information, please contact the Bangkok or provincial Social Security Offices nationwide or the 1506 hotline which provides services 24-hours a day, including public holidays.
Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark said that the important thing is to provide services and access to benefits under Section 40 for independent or informal workers. He said that it is a fundamental government policy, whereby the Minister has set out goals for the first year and in the next 2-3 years to provide another 5 million independent workers insurance under Section 40, out of the current 20 million people who do not have access. The Minister emphasized this 4 months ago when the section was created that the ministry had added more than 500,000 people, equivalent to 100,000 per month. The policy has expanded to various occupations including taxi drivers, motorcycle drivers and workers in the agricultural sector. There has been much movement and one thing that motivates insurers to enter the system and have confidence in the services is the convenience and speed.
