Taipei Labour Office Reports “Republic of the Unions of Myanmar Formally Opens its Representative Office in Taiwan”

On the 22nd June 2015, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar established a formal representative office in Taipei of Taiwan, called the “Myanmar Trade Office, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Taipei”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan made the announcement and congratulated Myanmar stating that the establishment of the office would help promote trade relations, investment, tourism, culture, agriculture and livestock between Taiwan and Myanmar enabling closer ties. Taiwan has also recently established the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in Yangon in 2014.

There has been further analysis that policies on importing workers from Myanmar into Taiwan has progressed significantly from both sides, with increased possibilities of implementation.
