At present, Taiwan has started to enter an aging society; that is, there are less new borns and at the same time, an increasing population of elderly workers which one reason that impacts the increasing shortage of workers in Taiwan. This is especially the case for jobs in the industrial sector where the nature of jobs are relatively dangerous or dirty. The statistics for people with Alzheimer’s in Taiwan has also shown growth, and is thus another contributing factor for Taiwan’s trend for hiring more foreign workers.
